PILLER welcomes new trainees

On August 17th, the "traditional welcome" of the new PILLER trainees and their parents took place at the Nils Englund Training Center of Piller Blowers & Compressors in Moringen.

On August 17th, the "traditional welcome" of the new PILLER trainees and their parents took place at the Nils Englund Training Center of Piller Blowers & Compressors in Moringen. Dr. Roy Kühne, Member of the German Bundestag, as well as the head of his constituency office, Konstantin Mennecke, Uljana Grube (Head of the District Development Department of the Northeim District) and Nadia Mohseni (Hanover Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Göttingen) participated in the event. After initial words of welcome from Stephan Merkel and Christoph Böhnisch (PILLER management), from Uljana Grube and from Nils Englund (former managing partner of PILLER), Mandy Steinmetz, Head of Training at PILLER, and her team took the new generation of employees around the training center.

With a training rate of over 10% (in comparison: VDMA (German Engineering Federation) has an average rate of 7%), Piller Blowers & Compressors is one of the strongest training institutions in the region. Despite the Covid 19 pandemic, PILLER recently increased the number of its trainees again. This August, 30% more young people than last year are starting their training here. This is quite remarkable, because the German training market is under enormous stress due to Corona – according to a survey by the DIHK (German Chamber of Industry and Commerce), companies in trade and industry are potentially offering 7 % less apprenticeships.

Piller Blowers & Compressors GmbH is well known for its above-average level of training and is considered a much sought-after training company in southern Lower Saxony. This year the company is giving training in all six professions at the same time, in addition to traditional industrial professions such as electronics engineer for industrial engineering, industrial mechanic or cutting machine operator, Piller Blowers & Compressors is also training industrial sales representatives, warehouse logistics specialists and IT specialists. In 2021, the training program for construction mechanics will be added. "Training has always been a high priority for us – this is how we are able to reduce the lack of qualified specialists," says Mandy Steinmetz. Nils Englund adds: "As the name partner of the training center, I am proud that it is being continued in my spirit. The transfer of knowledge, mutual support and the development of individual personality were already at the forefront of the training during my time – in line with the philosophy of a real family business!

With its own training center, PILLER is specifically focusing on internal recruitment. A competent training team accompanies the new generation of employees from the beginning to graduation. "We are constantly striving to recruit talented young people who will receive a solid and future-oriented training with us – that is our goal," says Stephan Merkel. Christoph Böhnisch adds: "We are committed to this, because we want to inspire young people. As qualified, motivated employees, we want them to actively shape our company's future. Our current training figures are pleasing in regard to the corona crisis, and we hope to be able to attract new talents for training at PILLER in next year’s application process as well".
